If you are handy enough to work a website builder, you can absolutely make a plumbing site yourself on something like Wix or Squarespace. The question is not whether you can, it is what those evenings are worth against a callout. This page lays out both sides, including when doing it yourself is the right answer. SiteDone builds and hosts it for you from $89 a month, live within 7 working days.
We would rather lose the sale than have you sign up for something you did not need. These are the cases where DIY is the better answer.
You have got the time and you quite like the tinkering
Some people genuinely enjoy it. If a few quiet evenings sorting out your own site sounds fine rather than a chore, DIY is cheaper and you will learn something useful about your own business along the way.
You just need a placeholder while you get going
If you are three months into the trade and mainly need something to point people at, a one-page DIY site is a sensible starting point. Come back when the phone should be ringing more than it is.
You already have a site that works
If yours loads fast on phone data, your number is tappable, and people are finding you, leave it alone. Rebuilding a site that is already doing its job is a cost with no return.
Money is genuinely tight this quarter
A subscription is a subscription. If cash flow is the problem right now, a DIY site and a properly filled out Google Business Profile will get you further than either of us would like to admit.
The real cost
What DIY actually costs a plumber
Rarely the money. It is the hours, and yours are billable.
The hours are the price
Most tradies who build their own site describe it in evenings, not dollars. Put your own callout rate against those hours and the sum usually looks different from the one on the pricing page.
It gets to eighty per cent and stops
The common ending is not a bad site, it is an unfinished one. The pages are up, the number is not tappable on a phone, and the whole thing sits in a browser tab you stop opening.
The search part is a separate job
A builder gives you pages. It does not tell you that a suburb page needs to be about the suburb, or how to structure a services page so emergency work can be found. That is the part that decides whether anyone arrives.
Changing it stays your job forever
New suburb, changed callout fee, dropped a service. Every one of those is you, at night, remembering how the editor works. That does not stop after launch.
Side by side
What's actually different
Not a stitch-up. The column on the left is what a DIY builder genuinely gives you.

What it costs
What you'd pay here
Three plans, one flat monthly fee, and the rate you start on is the rate you keep.
Plans are $89, $129 and $199 a month, setup is $0 at the moment, and every plan covers the build, hosting, SSL, backups and a set allowance of content changes each month. Your site is live within 7 working days of your details reaching us, and if it has not brought you a real lead within 90 days, your billing pauses until it does (on the Core Hub and Local Dominator plans).

Prices are in AUD and charged monthly. We're not currently registered for GST, so none is added. The $49 domain registration and any add-ons are separate.
In dollars, usually yes. In hours, usually not, and for a plumber those hours are billable. Work out what an evening is worth to you and the comparison changes shape.
Could I start on a builder and switch later?
+–
Yes, and plenty do. Register the domain in your own name from the start and switching is straightforward, because the address your customers know comes with you.
What if I've already built one?
+–
Send us the link and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth replacing. If it loads fast, your number is tappable and people are finding you, we will say to keep it.
Do you just use a builder yourselves?
+–
No. The sites are static builds served from Cloudflare's network, which is why they load quickly on poor phone reception. That is a meaningful difference on a trade site, where most visitors are on a phone.
What happens if I stop paying you?
+–
After your first 3 months you can cancel with 30 days' notice and no exit fee. The domain is yours either way. Your site stays live until your paid month ends, then we keep it in backup for 6 months so you can restore it. After 9 paid months you can take the site with you at no charge.
